Grantee Profile

Established in 2019, Sukumani Environmental Justice is a community-based organisation based in the coal mining-affected areas of Dannhauser and Newcastle in KwaZulu-Natal. The organisation organises and empowers communities to make informed decisions through workshops and information-sharing processes, and advocates for the respect of environmental rights and the protection of environmental activists facing threats and intimidation.

EJF is supporting Sukumani to proactively develop a community safety plan.
